KEKE PALMER IS LIVING AUTHENTICALLY

 

Keke Palmer has been on the radar since she was thirteen years old. We witnessed her talent on ‘Akeelah and the Bee’ and she has been on her grind ever since. At 24, she is still doing big things and building her career with precision. She is currently playing Zayday Williamson on ‘Scream Queens’ and even had time to release a five-track visual EP titled Lauren.

 

She’s an amazing singer, wildly successful actor, an anti-bullying activist, and committed to doing what she loves regardless of what people think.

Keke Palmer created her own talk show “Just Keke” and became the youngest host ever, speaking as a voice for the young.

 

FIVE FUN FACTS YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT KEKE PALMER

 

  1. She audition five times for her role that propelled her to stardom in Akeelah and the Bee.

Keke auditioned five times for the movie that made her a household name. Doug Atchinson, director of Akeelah and the Bee finally made his decision to have Keke play the starring role after she did a crying scene and he believed it to be very authentic.

 

  1. She has broken several records of being “youngest” to accomplish something.

In 2004, Keke starred in a TV movie called The Wool Cap. She was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for her role and was the youngest person to be nominated for that award. Ten years later in 2014, she broke another record by being the youngest ever talk show host on BET’s “Just Keke”. She is also the first ever African-American to play ‘Cinderella’ on  Broadway.

 

 

  1. Her family lived out of hotels for a year.

When her family realized their daughter’s potential to make it big, they moved to Los Angeles to help make her dream become a reality. Keke recalls that her parents sacrificed everything for her and they lived from hotel to hotel for a year while she went to auditions and got her footing in the industry.

 

  1. Keke is not only a singer and actress, but also a clothing designer.

Keke has so many talents! And fashion designer is one of them! Keke had a line with Walmart of clothes she designed herself. The line opened in 2009 while she was starring on the Nickelodeon show True Jackson VP.

  1. She spends a lot of time giving back to the community and doing charity work.

Although she is only 21, Keke has spent a lot of time doing charity work. She has worked very closely with Boys and Girls Club, YWCA, and Saving Our Daughters. She often speaks to kids about the importance of education as well as self-esteem and anti-bullying.
