What is The Right Skincare Routine for Healthy Skin?

Are you applying your skincare products the right way? Not sure what goes on first or last? Following the right skincare routine means applying your skincare products the right way and this applies to organic skincare products too.

Using good products the wrong way can leave your skin irritated, dehydrated, broken out, no matter the quality or how expensive they are.

To make it easier, UK Cosmopolitan broke it down into two routines, Morning and Night. You’ll find that you already own most of these products and it’s not nearly as stressful as it seems.

MORNING SKINCARE ROUTINE

Step 1: Wash with water

Using just water is enough to wash off impurities and dirt that may have settled on to your skin over night.

Step 2: Toner

Toner’s help your skin/face absorb other products and also balances your skin’s pH levels. My favorite toner is a simple mix of apple cider vinegar and water, half and half.

Step 3: Serum

Serum’s contain an unprecedented amount of active ingredients, that target specific skin concerns like wrinkles, dark spots, and dehydration.

Step 4: Eye cream

The skin around the eyes are the thinnest on our face and so they require extra attention especially since it has no sebaceous glands to produce natural oils, so it’s important to keep this area hydrated and protected all day long.

Step 5: Moisturizer

Nourish your skin by apply a soothing moisturizer in a light layer across the skin for long lasting all-day hydration.

Step 6: Sunscreen

Protecting the skin on a daily basis from UV rays will avoid the development of dark spots, wrinkles and fine lines. Most moisturizers contains sunscreen, so you can skip this if yours do.

NIGHT SKINCARE ROUTINE

Step 1: Oil-based cleanser

For the evening, select an oil based cleanser to start with as this will work to remove oil- based makeup and impurities from the skin.

Step 2: Double-cleansing

Following the oil cleanser, use a water-based cleanser to gently remove the oil residue and water-based impurities from the day.

Step 3: Exfoliate

Twice a week use a gentle enzyme or bead-based exfoliator to remove the dead skin cells that can make the complexion appear dull or block your pores from absorbing products

Step 4: Toner

In the same morning manner, next apply a toner to balance the skin’s pH levels.

Step 5: Serum

Following which the serum should then be worked into the specific areas of concern.

Step 6: Eye cream

Once again apply an eye cream to protect and hydrate the delicate eye area.

Step 7: Moisturizer

Lastly, select a night time moisturizer to keep those skin loving ingredients locked in, allowing you to wake to a beautifully rejuvenated complexion.
