JANELLE MONAE- ON OWNING HER SEXUALITY

Every time someone gives me a reason to dislike Janelle Monae, I love her even more. I can’t help it. The kind of vibes she exudes in her music, the emotions she portrays when she is acting, the air of confidence that emits from her whenever you watch her in a video is purely awesome.

You can’t hate that.

The thirty-two-year-old, song writer, actress and model gives meaning to the word charisma. She is the woman that sets her standards, through her style, lyrics and style of music. Our on- screen goddess identified with the LGBTQ community years ago and expressed that she desires that both men and women be attracted to her.

However, Janelle Monae in a recent interview opened up about her sexuality for the first time and identified as Pansexual.

“Being a queer black woman in America, someone who has been in relationships with both men and women- I consider myself to be a free-ass motherfucker”.

The singer said that after previously identifying as a bisexual but upon learning about pansexuality she identified with it too, claiming she is open to learning about herself.

Janelle Monae is a beacon of light to young persons struggling with their sexuality and hoping to find resolve. Janelle is our girl, we admire her confidence and we love her.
